We spent yesterday evening walking around downtown St. John's, which gave us the opportunity to run some errands and take some pictures. This is a shot I took of Geoff while he was deciding what to order for supper at Velma's. The picture hasn't been cropped at all, which is probably for the best. If there had been any extra space I wouldn't have been able to resist adding a thought balloon with a strip of bacon in it.

Red Cliff Panoramas
On Friday, Geoff and I took a walk out to the abandoned Red Cliff Radar Station. This is a panorama that I stitched together from shots taken inside the old operations room (click picture for larger version):

I also took this panorama as we were leaving the site (click picture for larger version):

Hurray for telephoto!
My new telephoto lens (Canon 55-250 mm) arrived today! Lack of time plus poor weather meant that my lens test took place in the backyard. Here's a shot of a daisy that I took from the deck with the lens fully extended:

Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Today we took part in the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk (official website). Unfortunately, it was definitely not a good day to be outside in St. John's today. It was rained heavily for a large portion of the walk, which meant that we ended up soaked:

I got this neat shot while taking a picture of my reflection using a long shutter speed:
I got to try out my close-up filters again (though attaching filters in the rain was much more work than I anticipated:
After all was said and done though, we really did have a fun time:

On Sunday, we took a drive through Holyrood and Brigus. This is a stitched panorama that I shot at Holyrood Beach (click for a larger version). Hurray for crossing goals off my list (Setting Goals)!

Black Mountain
Here are a few more shots from the Drizzle Boys Adventure. These were taken on top of Black Mountain:
An erratic boulder with a view of CBS:
More pink flowers (perhaps I should start photographing flowers that come in colors other than pink?):
Some gross bugs crawling around on another wild flower:

Topsail Bluff Sunset
On Saturday evening we took part in another Drizzle Boys Adventure. First, we hiked to Black mountain then to Topsail Bluff to catch the sunset. This is a HDR of the sunset from Topsail Bluff:

Close-up filters
Finally had some time to try out my new close-up filters last night. These shots were taken using all three of my filters stacked (+1, +2, +4) on my 50mm lens:

Fireworks over Quidi Vidi
We watched the fireworks from my deck again this Canada day. This time I was able to use my new camera (plus Geoff's remote trigger) to take a few long exposure fireworks shots. This was my favorite shot of the evening:
